The Doctorate signifies a proven ability to conduct independent scientific research. Under the auspices of the Combined Faculty of Mathematics, Engineering and Natural Sciences, we confer the academic degree Dr. rer. nat. in the subjects of mathematics and computer science.

We seek to promote the interest in mathematics and computer science by organizing events for schools and for the broader public. Alumns and newcomers join in and contribute to shared knowledge and contacts.

Heidelberg team of female computer scientists wins HerHackathon 2022

Satya Almasian, Milena Bruseva and Marina Walther convinced at the HerHackathon 2022 with their entry "ShoppingBud" and took first place in the challenge-overlapping final round.

From 23 June to 26 June 2022, this year's HerHackathon took place as an online competition. The event offered more than 350 selected international participants the chance to solve one of seven challenges posed by seven leading companies in Germany. The teams had to come up with a creative and innovative IT solution for each challenge within 72 hours. The Heidelberg team, consisting of Satya Almasian, Milena Bruseva and Marina Walther, convinced the jury with their contribution "ShoppingBud" to the Schwarz IT challenge and took first place in the final round of the challenge. Congratulations to the Heidelberg team!
