Large-Scale Optimization and Applications

Abstract: Large-scale optimization is a vibrant field with many ties to neighboring areas including analysis, numerical linear algebra, differential geometry, machine learning and partial differential equations. This presentation showcases these connections using past and ongoing projects in our recently established group “Scientific Computing and Optimization”. I will also address open problems and future directions in the field and advertise opportunities for collaboration.
