The Institute for Computer Science in the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science at Heidelberg University invites applications for a Full Professorship (W3) in Software Engineering (f/m/d). The successful post holder is expected to start 1 October 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter.
We are looking for exceptional candidates for a position in Computer Science with a special emphasis on Software Engineering (SE). This includes a research focus on areas such as secure SE, development of dependable software and software for data science, as well as SE for AI. The research interests of a successful applicant should complement the existing research groups in Computer Science. Applicants should have an excellent research record and experience in application-oriented research.
The successful applicant will be embedded in a vibrant, diverse and unique research environment with various opportunities for collaborations in existing and new institutions and initiatives. These include the Institute for Computer Engineering, the German Research Center for Cancer (DKFZ), Helmholtz Information & Data Science School for Health (HIDDS4Health), and the Interdisciplinary Center for Scientific Computing (IWR). Applicants are expected to engage with these existing and future collaborative research initiatives and to play an active role in obtaining third party funding. Further, adequate participation is expected in teaching of undergraduate and graduate courses within the study programs of the faculty.
Prerequisites for an application are (in accordance with Article 47, Paragraph 1 of the Higher Education Law of the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg) a university degree, a qualified Doctorate, successful teaching experience and (in accordance with Article 47, Paragraph 2 of the Higher Education Law of the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg) a habilitation, a successfully evaluated junior professorship, or equivalent qualifications.
