Research

Members of the Faculty are engaged in top level research in a wide range of scientific questions. This research involves a tight network of local institutions as well as national and international consortia.

In charge of research in mathematics and computer science are primarily the respective institutes. Starting in summer 2026, the title of Vice Dean of the Faculty for Mathematics and Computer Science has been specified to Vice Dean Research. The research related responsibilities of the Faculty are mostly of coordinating nature:

  • Coordination of research proposals for FoF 2, informing members about this and other internal calls.
  • Coordination of training offers for junior scientists / ERC candidates etc., if necessary with involvement of the research division (D6)
  • Coordinating of one professor jour fixe per semester with emphasis on collecting research initiatives,  exchange among professors regarding current and new initiatives, possibly pushing third party funding proposals
