Barbara Paech receives award for lifetime achievements
Computer Scientist from Heidelberg gets “Award for Lifetime Achievements in Requirements Engineering”
The European Requirements Engineering Conference REFSQ honored Prof. Dr. Barbara Paech, chair for Software Engineering, for her lifetime contributions to Requirements Engineering. With the enormous breadth and application orientation of her research she inspired many junior scientists. Examples include, but are not limited to
- the method Task-oriented Requirements Engineering used for elicitation and specification of requirements that is also applied in industrial settings,
- AI methods for creating requirements specifications from issue tracking systems or analysis of user feedback,
- the open source tool ConDec for administration and utilization of decisions,
- or a comprehensive literature study on the connections between user participation and project success.
Moreover, the award shows the appreciation of her broad commitment within the research community, in particular as co-founder of
- the IREB (International Requirements Engineering Board) that advances RE in the industry by developing curricula and granting certificates and
- the initiative RECARES (RE for social good) where researchers assist volunteer organizations with digitization projects for free.
